Marty started his piping in the Keel Pipe Band in Achill, Co. Mayo, which is where he hails from, and he was taught by Brendan Joyce and John Fadian who provided him with a good, solid foundation to push on to the next level.
He then joined Lord Edward's Own, Narraghmore for a brief period before making the trip north to Annsborough for a couple of seasons.
Marty joined the St. Laurence O'Toole Grade Three Development band in 2011, where he spent one season, before moving into the Grade One band in 2012.
Growing up listening to O'Toole's, it was always a goal of his to join the band and he's very grateful to both Terry and Alen for making it happen.
Since moving up the the Grade One band,Marty has won the Scottish, European, British and UK Championships......he just needs to add the World's for a full house.

His favourite thing about playing in the band is definitely the music - there’s no place like standing in that circle when the sound is booming - and obviously enjoying the craic & banter afterwards with great friends !!!
