Kyle is from Woodside, California but lives in Copenhagen, Denmark studying for his PhD in Bio-Engineering.
He started learning pipes at age 9 with Bill Merriman and later also took lessons from Ken Sutherland.
Kyle started playing with the Prince Charles Pipe Band in 2002, who came to Scotland for the first time in 2005 and placed 4th in Grade 3A, where he first heard St. Laurence O’Toole’s Dawning of the Day concert.
He later joined both the Vale of Atholl and Cullybackey when he moved from California to Edinburgh and then Belfast, before finally joining O'Toole's for the 2016 season where he was part of the band that won the European Championships that year.
Kyle also has competed in many solo contests and currently competes at the professional level in North America including making the Gold Medal final at Winter Storm on his first try in 2017.
Kyle is also an under21 Scottish water polo champion!
